Artists in Schools Program
The Keokuk Art Center
In 2017, The Keokuk Art Center was awarded grant funding from Lee County Youth Services, Inc. for the “Artists in Schools Program.” Over 300 Kindergarten through 5th Grade students from George Washington Elementary School and St. Vincent’s School participated.
The “Artists in Schools Program” features multiple music and art programs throughout the school year. In December of 2017, musicians Marty McCormack and Brian Fitzgerald performed a concert featuring their original music. In March of 2018, eight members of the Keokuk Art Center spent four days at the Keokuk elementary schools assisting over 300 students with the construction of “found object robots.” Finally in April of 2018, The five member group “Cahersiveen”, from Sacramento, CA performed a Irish Music concert in the schools.
